Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a few bits in Boots, and one of the things I picked up was a new foundation – Bourjois Paris Healthy Mix. My usual for the last couple of years has been Chanel Perfection Lumiere, but at €48 a pop I decided I needed to get something that I could wear every day, and keep my Chanel for “good wear”!

It’s really nice to apply – very silky and has a gorgeous dewy finish. I left it as it was and went about my day. But after about 4-5 hours I noticed it had gone patchy on my cheeks and would need a top-up. I absolutely don’t have time to top up my make-up during the day so I knew it wouldn’t do as it was.

So the next day I used a primer first and the foundation definitely lasted much longer. I got about 7-8 hours from it and it wore off better – not as patchy. The primer I used was Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

Then on the third day I use the same primer and I finished it off with a powder. This gave the best result – it lasted all day and evening, and I didn’t feel that it would need to be topped up at all. The powder I used was Rimmel Stay Matte in 001 Translucent – this is the only powder I ever use!

Although I got the foundation to last well, it still needs two additional products to get that result, and I wasn’t using these before with my Chanel foundation. In that sense it’s a bit of a hassle, especially if you give yourself a strict 7 minutes to do your face in the morning before flying out the door to work like I do! BUT with the Bourjois foundation at a price of €13 per bottle, it really is a great budget foundation.
