Holiday Essentials

Since I’m in the process of packing for a holiday, I thought I’d share my “holiday essentials” with you!

BEACH ESSENTIALS:

If I’m going to the beach or pool while I’m on holidays I have to bring a book. At the moment I’m reading The Mystery of Mercy Close by Marian Keyes. I also have to bring my phone with me (yes I’ll admit I’m obsessed).

My sunglasses are a must-have because I have sensitive eyes so sunlight or a breeze will make my eyes water! I love these sunglasses, they’re  Chanel and I bought them about 3 years ago as an “investment” and still love them.

I have quite long hair, which gets very irritating if it’s blowing in my face so I always bring a hair claw or bobbles with me so I can take it back off my face.

My lips get chapped very easily so whether it’s cold, windy or sunny I generally need to wear a good lip balm to keep them moist. This one is LipGlam 8 hour balm. It’s quite thick and sticky but it lasts for ages and really keeps your lips moist.

Last of all, I need to bring suncream with me as I burn fairly easily. This Soltan one has an SPF of 15 which is perfect for me as it’s not that hot in Spain at the moment (20-22C).

MAKE-UP ESSENTIALS:

As much as I love make-up, I like to let my skin breathe a bit when I’m on holidays. I also like to travel as light as possible so hate bringing loads of make-up with me.

Foundation – my trustworthy Chanel Perfection Lumiére!

Brush – large powder brush for light foundation coverage so your make-up doesn’t feel heavy in the heat.

Blush – I got this blush in one of the Glossyboxes I received. It’s Nickak Blush in NY065 Romantic and it’s great because it filters the blush through a sponge so there’s no brush needed, there’s no excess powder on the applicator and it doesn’t flake or spill anywhere. And it’s a gorgeous colour!

Mascara – preferably something that gives a curl so you don’t need to bring lash curlers too. This Essence Lash Princess mascara does this, but it’s not waterproof so if you plan to wear make-up in the water then maybe plan ahead on this one with a decent waterproof mascara!

Eyeshadow – any neutral palette will do, I like this one from MAC which has neutrals and smokey colours, this particular palette is probably discontinued by now as it’s 9 years old.

Brows – a pencil will do as it lasts the best in the heat compared to powder or gels. I’ve used this Rimmel one for years in the colour 002 Hazel.

Make-up remover – Wipes are the best remover to bring with you as they lift off make-up and dirt as well as doubling as hand-wipes when you’re out and about during the day. These Simple wipes are great for sensitive skin and remove most types of make-up.

ACCESSORY ESSENTIALS:

For me, perfume is an accessory and I always wear Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. I have a large bottle but when I’m travelling I usually put some into a small atomiser so I don’t have to carry the bottle with me.

As I said before, I like to travel light, so I bring very little jewellery with me on holidays. I normally go for a neutral set like these cream bangle set, long cream flower necklace and pearl heart-shaped earrings. They go with almost everything.

So those are my holiday essentials! Let me know what you think and what do YOUbring with you as your essentials when you go on holiday?
